Dear readers, today we are fortunate to have Avonleigh Adams as our guest. She’s stepping out of the pages of SHAD, book 7 of the popular Guns for Hire Series on Amazon. Welcome, Miss Adams.

AA: Thank you for inviting me.

She sits down and I pour her a cup of tea. She’s wearing an odd mix of clothing and moccasins. Her red hair falls gracefully around her shoulders.

CC: Please tell readers a little about yourself. For instance, where do you live?

AA: (She gives a soft laugh.) I thought you’d mention my odd mix of clothes, but readers must read the book to learn the reason. (Her green eyes sparkle with humor.) I live on the Adams Ranch near Rock Bench, New Mexico Territory. Pa and I raise cattle and goats. I was born on the ranch and haven’t traveled much. I love my home so much. You must come and visit after the trouble is settled.

CC: I’d love to, northern New Mexico Territory is a pretty part of the country. But you look upset, did you have trouble getting here today?

AA: I certainly did. We have a terrible neighbor named Robert Larkin. He is determined to have our ranch and we’re determined he won’t. I’m sure he’s the one who shot my father in the back and left him to die.

CC: That sounds horrible! Is your father going to be all right?

AA: Oh, I hope so. Our foreman, who’s like a second father to me, is named Lupe Montoya. Lupe found Pa and brought him home and then smuggled him out of the house in a wagon to take him to the doctor. I just don’t know how he’s getting along, you see, because I have to remain hidden.

CC: Hidden? Oh my dear, that sounds ominous for you. I hope your father’s recovering swiftly. What are you going to do to get to get rid of Mr. Larkin?

AA: I couldn’t think of anything. SHAD Stone has a plan. I’m so grateful he showed up. He saved my life and now he’s going to save my ranch— if everything works out right.

CC: Well, that sounds encouraging. I certainly hope that plan is successful.

AA: It simply has to be! I can’t imagine not having my ranch back. Our home means so much to Pa and me. I’d better get back in hiding in case any of Larkin’s men are around. They’re searching for me, you see. It won’t be pleasant if they find me. Thank you for having me. (She peers around cautiously before slipping out the door.)

CC: My goodness, she has a hard struggle ahead. I’m sure you’ll join me in wishing her well. Read more on SHAD on my website.

Readers, please visit me here each Monday to meet an array of interesting characters from my books. In the meantime, keep reading. Blessings
